Fall Cleaning is just around the corner and I would not start my cleaning routine without Baking Soda. It is a much safer way to clean rather than using harsh chemicals around my kids and pets.

Yes, it helps with every day uses like keeping a small box in your fridge and freezer to keep out odors. But here are some other ways you can use baking soda.

Instead of throwing away that used up box of baking soda that was in your fridge and freezer, just pour it down your kitchen sink with warm water to get rid of food build up and to keep your sinks smelling fresh.

Is your coffee cup or coffee maker stained? Pour a 1/4c of baking soda and a quart of warm water in your coffee pot maker and let it soak overnight. You can pour some of that solution in your mug as well and microwave it for a minute then scrub clean for a fresh new look.

You can also do the same with your left over containers especially from left over spaghetti night. Just pour warm water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda in the container and microwave for a minute and wash clean to get rid of nasty left over residue.

Take your sponges from your kitchen sink as well and soak them in warm water and 4 tablespoons of baking soda then microwave it for a minute to disinfect your sponges and to freshen them up. Helps them to last longer as well. Make sure you let it cool before removing the sponge as it will be VERY HOT!

Allergies are sparking back up as well with the season change, so sprinkle some baking soda on your carpets around your house and let it sit for 3-4 hours then vacuum it up. I do it before I go to bed then first thing in the morning I vacuum it up.

Before Thanksgiving and Christmas gets here I like to polish all the silver before we use it all. So I just Mix one part baking soda and one part water to create a paste and make everything like new again.

Cleaning the bathrooms have never been fun but baking soda does make this a little easier. So instead of buying yet another plastic shower curtain liner I will now just throw it in the washing machine with a cup of baking soda along with my regular detergent, some towels to freshen them up as well and wash on a medium to gentle cycle. Then I will toss the curtain liner in the drier on LOW with a towel for 5 minutes just long enough to get off most of the water then hang back up just like a new liner. All that mold and soap scum is gone!

Make a paste as well 3 parts baking soda and one water water to scrub your grout or any stains in your bathroom to get a good deep cleaning without harsh chemicals.

If you have smelly uniforms just add a 1/2c of baking soda to your laundry and it will come out smelling fresh again. Same thing goes with baby clothes!

Trash cans, diaper pails, laundry baskets, all these you can just sprinkle some baking soda to the bottom and it will soak up any odor you thrown into them!
