Wool Carpet Cleaning Guide
First thing you want to do to clean a rug is to get up as much as you can see! Pick up all the toys and clothes and give it a GOOD vacuum.
Then take it outside and lay it over the fence or clothes line and shake off as much of the loose dirt as possible! I even go over it again with the vacuum once more!
Lay the wool rug outside on a porch or deck even a concrete driveway and hose down the rug or areas where it needs a good cleaning. Then grab a sponge and bucket filled with some warm water and detergent solution. I tend to use the carpet wash solution. Then rinse the rug cleaning it making sure no soap is left behind!
If you have deep stains that need extra care try a vinegar and water solution and give it a good but gentle cleaning. Don’t ever scrub the stain just blot.
Dry your rug immediately and completely! I bring out all our old towels and soak up as much as you can and then let it lay in the sun drying completely!
Once it’s completely dry and is brought back inside, give it one last vacuum to fluff up the fibers in the carpet one last time!

Keeping up with your rug will help keep it looking like new! Doing this every Spring and even in the Fall before it gets too cold is a great plan. Thanks for the great tips for finding a carpet cleaning service. I agree that choosing the cheapest one probably isn’t the best option. For me, I’m already paying to hire someone, so I may as well get the best I can!
