Citrus Vinegar Cleaner
Citrus Vinegar Cleaner
I have really enjoyed cleaning with vinegar lately. There are so many ways to clean with vinegar. A friend recently shared with me the benefits of using essential oils. I love them but they are costly. I wanted to find a way to create my own essential oil to mask the smell of the vinegar. I learned that using peels from citrus is a great way to infuse your vinegar!
Citrus vinegar cleaner has so many great benefits! You can clean so much with the infused vinegar. Such as your kitchen, bathrooms, tile or even your wood floors, kids toys, windows and mirrors! The list is really endless! But lately my favorite has been the floors. We just moved to a new home and we had an issue with spiders and other insects! I learned from a friend that bugs do not like the smell of citrus, especially lemon! So that’s when I started making citrus infused vinegar cleaners. I have been using them for about a month now and I have not seen as many spiders and bugs which is a huge plus! But the cleaner itself is amazing. I love that I can safely disinfect my counters, toilets and floors without using harmful chemicals with terrible strong odors. Using the citrus infused vinegar cleaner is safe around kids, pets and my pregnant wife as well!
So the recipe for Citrus Vinegar Cleaner is very simple, all you need is
- Large Mason Jar with lid
- Vinegar
- Citrus Peels; orange, lemon or grapefruit
SIMPLE! All you need to do is peel your fruit, place the peels in the mason jar and add about 2 cups of vinegar to the jar. Just let it sit on your counter for about two weeks. I have been using peels from cutie oranges being that they are in season and my daughter loves them. I have several jars now being infused and waiting to be used! Once the two weeks is up all you need to do is pull out the peels and even strain the vinegar is anything settled to the bottom.
This solution can we used in many different way. If you want to use it for cleaning floors such as tile or laminate wood floors just mix 1/2 cup of the citrus infused vinegar with 1 gallon of hot water. mix well and wash, no need to rinse. This will dry within 2-3 minutes and will leave your floors smelling great and more importantly CLEAN!
You can also use this solution for everyday, almost everywhere cleaning too. Just mix 1/2 solution with 1/2 water. I have an empty spray bottle I use to clean my windows, spray my kitchen counter and stove or those messes on the floor after each meal!! It usually takes about 1 1/2 cups of the citrus infused vinegar and 1 1/2 cups of water. I shake the bottle to quickly mix the solution and clean whatever I need to! You can not get any easier that that! Please share with us some ways you clean with vinegar and if you try this solution let me know how you like it!

I can’t wait to try this. I have used vinegar in my laundry to help with mildew, but have never liked the smell for cleaning with it.
