Cleaning with Vinegar
Cleaning with Vinegar
If you want a natural cleaning experience look no further than vinegar. Vinegar is derived from several sources; most common are fruits and grains, such as apples and rice. White vinegar seems to be the best for household cleaning. Vinegar is known to be a natural germ fighter, therefore, cleaning with vinegar is both chemical and germ free. It is very versatile and, while it does leave a slight odor that quickly disappears, there are a lot of advantages in using vinegar to clean with. It is non-toxic to humans and pets.
Here are a few simple tips on cleaning with vinegar:
1. Soak glassware it in a solution made of a half cup of vinegar to a gallon of water. Leave it for a half hour, then remove and rinse well.
2. Pour a couple of cups of undiluted white vinegar into the toilet bowl; allow to stand for several minutes, then scrub and flush.
3. Wipe down your bath tub with a solution of vinegar and baking soda to remove soap scum and sanitize the bowl.
4. To freshen your coffeepot and remove coffee stains from the glass pot fill the water container with vinegar and running it through a cycle. Then, rinse well and run through two cycles using fresh clean water.
5. If you have water spots on your sink and fixtures, dampen a paper towel with vinegar and allow to lay on the affected area for 10 minutes or so. Then go back and wipe clean. This will work if the water spots have not already etched into the porcelain. At any rate, it will improve the appearance and sanitize the fixtures.
6. Use vinegar (full strength) on a soft clean cloth to clean your toilet. Add full strength to the water in the toilet bowl, allow to sit for 30 minutes, then scrub and flush.
7. Use a cloth dampened with vinegar to remove soap film and mildew from your shower curtain. Rinse well.
Take note that vinegar is a mild acid, and should not be used on items that could be damaged such as crystal. It is very important to remember to NEVER USE VINEGAR ON MARBLE OR NATURAL STONE SURFACES.
Happy Cleaning!

Great post! But just a heads up, be careful cleaning with vinegar! There are some great uses for it but vinegar is quite acidic and over time can easily etch or damage some surfaces. Make sure to only use on acidic resistant materials. If you aren’t sure, best not to use it and try another organic approach such as Freshana Organic Solutions 100% natural, organic, safe and effective cleaning products and air purifiers on those delicate surfaces!
