Carport Organization Project Complete!
Last week I shared with you my ideas for how to organize your carport and my plan for getting ours organized quickly before Spring is in full swing. This week I want to show you how I installed the Rubbermaid FastTrack organization system that I purchased at the Home Depot. I am amazed at how easy it was to install and very happy with the completed project.
How to Install Rubbermaid FastTrack Organization System
Step 1: Clear out the area. We focused on one corner and wall of the carport. So I moved out all the toys and bikes. I also got rid of the old rotting wood storage shelves.
Step 2: Take a look at your space and plan where you want things to hang or be stored on the wall. This will help you determine where to install the Rubbermaid FastTrack rails. I knew I wanted the adult bikes which are the biggest to hang closest to the corner so the first rail we installed was the highest. I measured the bikes and then put the rail about a foot higher than the bikes would be when they are hanging vertically. Installing the rail was so simple. Mark the height where you want the rail to be. Find the studs in the wall and ensure that you are going to be attaching the rail to at least 2 studs preferably near the ends of the rail. Then using a level mark where you need to drill the holes. Then you can drill the holes. You can also combine these steps and just hold the rail in place, level it, and drill the holes as shown below.
Step 3: Secure the rail to the wall. All of the hardware you need is included in the Rubbermaid FastTrack Hardware Pack. In the pack are eight heavy duty screws and 4 drywall anchors if you need them.
Step 4: Cover the metal rail with the black cover by snapping it on. It snaps on easily. You just start at the top, snap it in and then go along and make sure it snaps into place on the bottom too.
Step 5: Start hanging your hooks. The system is so versatile you can move the hooks around until you are satisfied with where everything is going to hang. I chose the vertical bike hooks to really maximize our wall space.
Step 7: Continue installing additional rails and hooks. I decided to add 4 more rails to meet all of our storage needs. I really want the kids sports equipment up off the carport floor so I don’t have to live in fear of running over a bike or a ball. I love the vertical ball holders. We are a basketball and soccer family so I got two ball holders. I made sure to install the ball holders and basket low enough for the kids to reach so that they can take responsibility for cleaning up their sports equipment.
Well there you have it, how to organize your carport in one afternoon. This was a fun and easy Spring cleaning project. I would suggest using the Rubbermaid FastTrack System in carports, garages, and even basements. It is easy to install and fits all your storage needs. Most important it gets all your stuff up of the floor so you can use your garage or carport to actually park your car and not just be have a jungle of stuff. Visit Home Depot today and get started on your Spring cleaning organization project.

I have been into some serious spring cleaning. It’s hard work. My goal is to try, when it’s all clean and tidy, to keep it that way.

Thanks so much for the Terrific Review on Carport Organization Project Complete! WOW what a difference it made to your carport by installing all of those shelves and pins, etc. We, unfortunately, do not have a carport or a garage for that matter. Our cars are parked on the street in front of our house! However, If we did have a carport or garage, this would be absolutely perfect! Thanks so much for sharing your terrific review on the Carport Organization Project, all the pictures, and information on how you utilized the space with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it! Thanks again! Michele 🙂

It’s amazing how much stuff we acquire over the years. Last week I started, and still am spring cleaning. This item would be perfect for me to store the items that we want to keep but take up floor space.
