Clean Vomit Out of Carpet
Clean Vomit Out of Carpet
It’s that time of year again, what I refer to as “the sick half of the year”. The Flu, colds, stomach viruses, all seem to rear their ugly heads around this time. And for those of us with kids in school, it is germ explosion. We all know what comes with some of those illnesses, and that is vomit. When you become a parent you clean up all kinds of things you never thought you would have to, and while it’s disgusting, it’s part of the job description.
Recently my daughter got sick (a total of 6 times actually) and I spent the weekend trying not to gag while I used every towel we had in our house to scrub up the vomit that collected on our carpet I knew there had to be a better way to do this. And guess what? There is, and I’m going to share with you my tips on how to Clean Vomit Out of Carpet!
Here is the Best Way to Clean Vomit Out of Carpet:
First, grab your tools. You will need some essential oils (Lemon and eucalyptus), baking soda, your vacuum, and vinegar.
Next, Swipe some essential oil of your choice under your nose. The step is optional but it really helps you ignore the smell of vomit while you are trying to clean it up ha!
Then, Sprinkle your baking soda over the entire soiled area of carpet along with a view drops of Lemon essential oil. Let sit for around 15 minutes to allow the baking soda to absorb the vomit.
Next, use your vacuum to vacuum up the baking soda. There should be little left on the carpet after this step.
Finally, using a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water along with 10 drops of eucalyptus oil spray the affected area and then scrub gently with a warm towel. Pat dry and you are done!
It’s that easy! No more mopping up vomit with a towel, no more gagging and trying not to get sick yourself, and with less time cleaning up the mess, you have more time to tend to the needs of your sick family member.
