Dawn Dish Soap Alternative uses
I am an avid fan of Dawn Dish Soap. I like a product that is easy to use and cost effective. If it takes me a lot of time or product to get the job done then it isn’t a product I would use. I know that Dawn works on dishes but I wasn’t sure it could tackle the dirt, oil, and grime on the rims of our tires. I also know that seeing is believing so I would like to show you what i found out.
Dawn Dish Beyond the Sink
You know what they say:” When life on the road gets tough, Dawn gets tougher. Tools are tough. But even greasy, oily tools need love now and again – tough love. Reach for Dawn.”
This is our passenger side front tire.
This is the up close and personal look at the grime, dirt, oil, and whatever else accumulated on there.
In order to, clean the rims place one gallon of warm water in a bucket and then add 1 teaspoon of Dawn for each gallon of your bucket. Next, you will dip a soft sponge into the bucket, and squeeze out any of the excess suds or water. I used the dual sided sponge just in case I needed to scrub.
You will need to scrub those hubs until all grease has been removed from the metal surface.
Then with a soft towel I wiped down the tire. It hardly required any “man power”. The Dawn did the heavy lifting for me.
I was so impressed with my results that I went on to tackle my tools. I figure if Dawn could cut the grease and oils on the tire imagine what it could do on my tools.

Can Dawn clean Greasy Tools?
Again add a teaspoon of Dawn to a gallon of hot water. I used a couple of drops to clean this wrench.
Then with a dishrag or sponge, scrub away the grease and oil.
Note: Do not soak hand tools.
When clean, thoroughly rinse them under running water and dry them with a towel right away.
Please, also note that soaking could lead to etching on certain materials.

And we’ve never used Dawn for anything other than dishes or for greasy stains in the laundry. You’ve opened our eyes to new ways to use it.
